Attracted by the blog title?
Hahaha sorry, but there are only four pictures here.
Pictures from ping.sg.
None of them contain racy content at all, unless you're turned on by pictures of words lar.
So what makes me ask if sex sells. (at least on ping.sg)
Look here at the "popular in the last 24 hours" page of ping.sg
Count them. 4/7 of the listings visible in the screenshot at least HINT at happenings of the sort.
See. First there's the "Miss World Malaysia". Promise of possible pictures of a hot pretty young lady.
Next there's "Hot mama". Nuff' said.
Then there's "Partay like you've never done it before". About clubbing. And what do people associate clubbing with? Surely not mugs of hot tea, jazz music and games of chess.
Then lastly there's "The time for circumcision is now".
Lol. maybe i'm kinda stretching it with these examples, but lets move on to the "popular posts in the past week" page.
Wow. look at that! 5 out of 7. And this time the word itself (or variations of it) is mentioned in all 5 posts!
Kenny sia sex scandal proven
Taiwan's prettiest vet (very sexy too)
Sex in the car
She moans so loud.... (mentioned in the post excerpt, but this is so clearly about it)
and Hong Kong party girls (in the post excerpt as well, but it's clear from the post title as well)
And this is the WEEKLY popularity chart, meaning that these have definitely gathered more hits as well as pongs than those in the 24 hour rankings.
Moving on to the monthly, it becomes even more obvious
Again, 5/7, if u want to count the last, partially cut off one then it's 6/8.
Read them yourself, and see that my point is clearly proven.
And finally the monthly rankings chart.
This time it's 4/7, possibly 5/7 if you think the last post hints at it as well.
So you see my point? Sex does sell. Pictures of pretty girls, pictures of pretty girls zhaogenging, controversial stories involving sex.....
And for the remaining popular posts that aren't about sex, they're mostly about controversial happenings, e.g. krisando getting sued over a picture posted on the blog, or xiaxue getting flamed and dawnyang's plagarism scandal....
So it's true eh, sex sells, and any publicity is good publicity.
But then again, there are many posts about current events of interest that make people want to read as well. For example, the Beijing 2008 olympics is the hot topic of the moment, and i'm sure that when there are natural disasters or miraculous happenings that are widely reported in the newspapers, those topics would be attention grabbing as well.
All in all, I guess it's just the curious nature of man in general to want to see "nice pictures", read about other people's scandalous pursuits or just keep up to date on whatever is the coffee table topic of the moment.
We're all guilty of it, no?
And if my predictions are right (and they usually aren't), this post is gonna make it to the top 10 popular pings in the last 24 hours, just because of that word in the title.
